Field & Umpire Setup
- Our umpire will setup the field prior to each game by installing all bases. The first base is a safety base, which will have both a spot for runners to tag and 1st basemen to stand.
- Balls will be provided during gameplay by Connect Sports London although teams are encouraged to bring extras for warm ups.
- Teams/Players will need to bring gloves & bats to use as well.
- Umpire will call all plays and have final ruling.
Game Length & Teams
- Games are comprised of 90 minutes or 7 innings of play.
- Every inning consists of 3 outs or a maximum of 7 runs. There is no maximum in the final inning of play.
- Mercy Rule: If a team is up by 14 or more runs in the 6th inning the losing team is given the option on whether to play or end the game.
- Teams are made up of 9 players on the field. Three (3) of which must be male/female at all times. The batting order will be 2 males 1 female every game as well. All players must go through the rotation before a player can hit a 2nd time.
- If a team cannot field 3 females i.e 2 females they will play 1 player short on the field. When it comes time to bat the rotation will still be 2 males & 1 female.
- Teams at bat will allocate a pitcher for their team. Every batter will have 3 pitches thrown to them. All contact i.e foul balls will count as 1 pitch.
Rules
Starting The Game
- Rock, Paper, Scissors will begin every game. The winner will choose whether they want to bat 1st or 2nd.
Base Running
- 1st base is a safety base, which is a double bag (marked by a white & orange base) for both the first basemen and runner to touch.
- There are no leadoffs and no steals allowed.
- Players may only run once there has been contact made, if a player abuses this rule the umpire will call the batter out and all base runners will return to their previous base.
- No sliding is allowed and will result in an automatic out (dangerous play).
- You may tag up during a pop up ball and all base runners will be watched by the umpire to ensure fairness.
- There is a “commitment line” ten feet past third base. Players crossing this line must proceed toward homeplate. The line will be marked and shown to both teams prior to each game.
In Game Rules
- There is no bunting allowed.
- Only plastic cleats can be worn (no metal cleats due to safety).
- Umpire will call all foul/inplay balls.
- No pinch runners are allowed.
- All pitches must be made underhand.
- If a ball enters the dugout off a wild pitch the players may only advance 1 base. Although if the ball hits the fence players may progress at their own discretion.
- All official rulings are final.
Inclement Weather
- Games will be called by the umpire.
- Any game played past the 4th inning and called due to weather will count in the standings.
- If a game doesn’t make it past the half way point a make day will be added and both teams will start exactly where they left off.
